Recycling centre delivers new opportunities - job seekers and businesses invited to drop in find out more

Leeds City Council and Veolia Environmental are holding two events to promote new jobs and business opportunities on the construction site of the new recycling and energy recovery facility (RERF).

Local businesses who are interested in commercial opportunities at the Cross Green Industrial Estate site are invited to call (0113) 881 4810 to book a slot at the meet the buyer event on Monday 5th August from 9am – 12pm held at the Mega Centre, 32 York Road (appointment required).

Residents who are interested in employment opportunities are invited to drop in to the employment event on Monday 5th August from 2pm – 7pm held at the Richmond Hill Community Centre.

Paul Fowler General Manager for Veolia Leeds, said:
“This demonstrates our strong commitment to supporting the local economy and ensuring that our new facility helps get local people into jobs and training opportunities that will be created by our partnership with Leeds City Council.

Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure and skills, said:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming as many local people as possible to the jobs event and hope to see many Leeds businesses at the meet the buyer event.

“The new waste and recycling facility is being built for the benefit of Leeds  people so we want Leeds residents and businesses  to benefit from the skills development, jobs, and supply chain opportunities which will have a positive impact for years to come.”

Councillor Mark Dobson, Leeds City Council’s executive member for the environment, said:
“This is going to be landmark building that will help us realise our recycling ambitions and I hope that many local residents will help us in achieving this ambition by benefiting from the jobs that will be created throughout the construction phase and into operations.

“Potential recruits and suppliers are encouraged to join us at the event to learn more about how they, our economy and environment will benefit from the new facility.”
